CWG 2026 Day 9: Tejaswin in medal hunt, Neeraj gears up for javelin final as India eye more podiums
Day 9 of the Commonwealth Games 2026 in Glasgow witnessed intense competition as Indian athletes continued their medal quest. Tejaswin Shankar showcased his consistency in the 110m hurdles, clocking 14.41 seconds to earn 922 points. This took his overall tally to 5,261 across six completed events, placing him second behind Canada's Damian Warner, who leads with 5,322 points. The athletics programme also included medal events in the men's and women's 4x100m relays, as well as the 4x400m mixed relay. India’s mixed relay team featured Muhammed Ajmal, Rupal, and Kiran Pahal, adding to the nation's hopes for additional medals.
Neeraj Chopra's javelin final was among the most anticipated events of the day.
