Cow Meat Allegation at Wedding: 7 Arrested, Banquet Hall Sealed in UP's Kairana

Seven people have been arrested and a banquet hall sealed in Kairana town of Uttar Pradesh's Shamli district after allegations that a cow was slaughtered and its meat was served at a wedding reception last week, officials said.

Those arrested include Farman, whose walima (wedding reception) was held; banquet hall manager Anees Ahmad; Khalil Faridi, who allegedly prepared the meat; and Furkan, Ashfaq, and Zulfikar.

The sealing was carried out on Tuesday by the Muzaffarnagar Development Authority (MDA), which also issued a notice to the hall's owner after an inspection of the premises where the reception took place on June 18.

Cow slaughter is banned in Uttar Pradesh under the state's animal preservation laws, and such allegations are taken seriously by authorities. Further investigations are ongoing.
