Congress Announces Nationwide Protests Over Exam Irregularities and Corruption

Congress leader Kodikunnil Suresh on Wednesday announced that the party would launch nationwide protests, as called for by Leader of the Opposition Rahul Gandhi, to highlight issues of unemployment, exam paper leaks, and corruption in public examinations. Speaking at a press conference in Kollam, Suresh accused the Union government of failing to address systemic failures in examination agencies and of adopting anti-youth policies.

Suresh said that the 'Chatron Ki Goonj' initiative, led by Gandhi, has brought youth grievances into the national spotlight. He alleged that the government, instead of tackling these problems, has targeted Gandhi and silenced critics. The Congress leader also claimed that the Bharatiya Janata Party's (BJP) promise of 'zero tolerance against corruption' has been undermined by irregularities involving over ₹200 crore in Ayodhya Ram temple construction funds and a 168-acre land scam in Madhya Pradesh involving a BJP minister.

On the Foreign Contribution Regulation Act (FCRA), Suresh alleged that the government is using the law to target human rights groups, environmental activists, and non-governmental organisations that criticise it. He said the BJP is using communal politics and nationalism to divert attention from issues like unemployment, farmers' crises, and the weakening of constitutional bodies.

The Congress party has stated it will aggressively lead the protest movements to safeguard democracy, social justice, and the Constitution.
