Compound Wall Collapse at World Trade Centre Site Kills Two in Bharuch

Two members of a tribal family died on Wednesday after a compound wall of an under-construction World Trade Centre project collapsed onto their hut in Bharuch, Gujarat. The incident occurred around 2:30 am in the Aali Matariya area following heavy rain, police said.

The deceased were identified as Ashwin Vasava, 42, and his son Ashish Vasava, 22. Two other family members—Sonu Chiman Vasava, 62, and Shakuben Ashwin Vasava, 40—were rescued with minor injuries after being trapped under the debris. Fire officials lifted the wall to free them.

The family was asleep when the wall fell. Police have registered a case and are investigating the construction site's safety measures. No arrests have been made. The World Trade Centre project is part of a commercial development in Bharuch, approximately 200 km from Ahmedabad.

Local authorities have urged builders to ensure structural safety, especially during the monsoon season when rain weakens foundations. The incident has raised concerns about safety standards at construction sites in residential areas.
