Class 6 student dies at Bengaluru school; parents allege teacher assault, police probe underway

A 12-year-old student of a residential school in Bengaluru died under circumstances that are being investigated by the police. The boy's family has alleged that teachers assaulted him before his death, while school authorities claim he collapsed while jogging.

The deceased, identified as Gurukiran, was a Class 6 student at the school in Kadayarappanahalli, Bengaluru North taluk. He was the son of Raghavendra, a resident of Subedarpalya.

According to school officials, the boy collapsed on the school campus during a morning jog on Wednesday. They informed his parents around 6 am that he had fallen ill and was taken to a hospital. By the time the family arrived at the hospital, Gurukiran had died.

The Bagalur police have registered a case based on a complaint filed by the family, who allege that teachers assaulted the boy, leading to his death. An investigation is underway to determine the exact cause of death.

Authorities have not made any arrests yet. The post-mortem report is awaited, which may provide clarity on the circumstances surrounding the death.
