CJP Protest Continues for Third Day with Over 70 Detentions, Centre Reaches Out to Sonam Wangchuk

The 'Sansad Chalo' march organised by the political party CJP entered its third day on Wednesday, following two days of clashes and detentions. Delhi Police reported that around 70 protesters were detained, while more than 100 injured demonstrators were taken to hospitals. Officials stated that approximately 118 people had been taken to medical facilities.

The protest, which began on Monday, saw thousands gather at Jantar Mantar in support of the CJP's demands, including the resignation of Union Education Minister Dharmendra Pradhan. After a turbulent first day, the demonstration resumed on Tuesday with additional participants joining the cause.

Security remained tight at the venue, with heavy police deployment following Monday's violence. Visuals showed a significant police presence as demonstrators regrouped after clashes during the march towards Parliament. The detentions and injuries occurred during attempts to disperse the crowd.

In a separate development, Union Health Minister JP Nadda and Minister of State Jitendra Singh met activist Sonam Wangchuk at Medanta Hospital on Tuesday evening, according to sources. Wangchuk had been hospitalised during the protests. The meeting is seen as a gesture of outreach from the central government.

The CJP, which has been vocal on issues related to education and social justice, has called for a peaceful resolution to the standoff. The party's leadership has urged authorities to allow the protest to continue without further unrest. The situation remains tense, with both sides maintaining their positions.
