Centre Opens Talks with CJP Protest Group as Monsoon Session Begins

The Union Government has initiated dialogue with the CJP protest group, as the organisation marches towards Parliament on the first day of the Monsoon session, July 20, 2026.

According to sources, Deputy Commissioner of Police, New Delhi, Sachin Sharma, is representing the Centre in talks with the CJP team.

Initial offers for talks were made at the level of the District Magistrate, a Secretary to the Union Government, and a Minister of State, but were rejected by the CJP. The group insisted on a dialogue with the Prime Minister or a Cabinet Minister, and reportedly submitted a list of ministers to the DCP.

Meanwhile, CJP spokesperson Saurav Das confirmed that he and Ashutosh Ranka will be meeting Union Health Minister J.P. Nadda. “The government had reached out for talks in the morning. Our demands are clear. The youth has gathered in huge numbers,” Das posted on X (formerly Twitter).
