Central Railway restores Lonavala-Karjat line after landslides; disruptions expected until July 17
The Central Railway announced on Saturday that it has restored one of the lines in the Lonavala-Karjat section, which was damaged due to landslides triggered by heavy rainfall on July 6.
Repair work is still underway on the remaining affected lines, and the railway authority has indicated that services will continue to be disrupted until July 17.
In a press release, Dr Swapnil Nila, Chief Public Relations Officer of Central Railway, stated: 'Short notice diversions, short terminations and short originations were causing inconvenience to passengers; hence, it was decided to take a reasonable view and help passengers plan their journey in a better way.'
Passengers are advised to check the NTES app or contact the railway helpline for the latest train running information. Updates are also being shared on social media.
