CBSE Class 12 Exams in West Asian Countries from October 23; Admit Cards Released
The Central Board of Secondary Education (CBSE) will hold Class 12 board examinations in seven West Asian countries between October 23 and 28 for candidates who were dissatisfied with the marks awarded to them under a special assessment scheme, officials said on Monday. The scheme was prepared after the board cancelled the examinations in view of the prevailing war situation in the region.
The examinations were cancelled in Bahrain, Iran, Kuwait, Oman, Qatar, Saudi Arabia and the United Arab Emirates for 40 subjects, including 20 academic papers, examination controller Sanyam Bhardwaj said.
To ensure that students were not left without results, the CBSE notified an assessment scheme on March 27 for preparing results for the affected candidates. Under this arrangement, results for all regular candidates from West Asian countries were declared on May 13, along with those of other Class 12 candidates in India and abroad.
"The assessment scheme stated that students dissatisfied with their results may be allowed to take examinations in subjects that could not be held. Last month, candidates were to fill out forms if they wished to appear for any subject for which exams could not be conducted earlier," Mr. Bhardwaj said.
Admit cards for the examinations were released on Monday, October 12.
According to the schedule, the examinations will begin on October 23 with papers in Political Science, Economics, Mathematics and Applied Mathematics.
On October 24, examinations for Psychology, Business Studies and Physical Activity have been scheduled.
The papers planned for October 26 are Biology, Information Technology, Multimedia, Marketing and Artificial Intelligence.
Home Science, Informatics Practices and Computer Science are scheduled for October 27, while the English examination will be held on October 28.
"One examination centre has been fixed in each country as per the List of Candidates (LOC) filled by candidates. The result of this examination shall be final and will replace the earlier performance," Mr. Bhardwaj said.
The List of Candidates is the official database of eligible students that CBSE-affiliated schools must submit online to register them for the Class 10 and Class 12 board examinations.
The October sitting is limited to candidates who registered for it. Students who have accepted the marks awarded under the assessment scheme are not required to appear, and their existing results will stand. For those who do appear, the new marks will supersede the earlier ones, which means the outcome of these examinations carries finality.
The West Asian region has a large number of CBSE-affiliated schools, and the board conducts examinations for overseas candidates alongside its domestic schedule. The board's decision to cancel papers in these countries and adopt an alternative assessment method was taken as an exceptional measure after the examinations could not be held there.
