CBSE Class 10, 12 Board Exams 2027: LOC Portal Open, Date Sheet Not Yet Announced
The Central Board of Secondary Education (CBSE) has opened the online portal for schools to submit the List of Candidates (LOC) for the Class 10 and Class 12 board examinations of 2027. The window opened on September 24. Schools can submit candidates' details without a late fee until October 21, while submissions with a late fee will be accepted from October 22 to 26.
The examination schedule, or date sheet, has not been announced yet. No official date has been confirmed by the board for its release. Students and schools should treat announcements published only on the board's official website, cbse.gov.in, as final, and should be cautious about schedules circulating on social media or in unofficial messages.
The LOC submission is a mandatory step, not a formality. According to the board, only students whose names are submitted through the online LOC process will be allowed to appear for the Class 10 and Class 12 board examinations. CBSE has stated that submitting accurate student data and selecting the correct subjects are of utmost importance, since errors can affect a candidate's eligibility and subject combination.
Schools must complete the registration process before beginning the online submission of the LOC. They are required to use their 'Affiliation Number' as the user ID, which is already available with them. Schools are advised to verify details such as the spelling of names, dates of birth, subject codes and category information before submitting, as corrections later usually require the board's approval and can cause delays.
For context, in the previous examination cycle the board issued a tentative date sheet on September 24, 2025, for the 2026 board examinations. At that time, CBSE said that roughly 45 lakh candidates were expected to appear across 204 subjects in Classes 10 and 12. Those figures related to the 2026 examinations; the board has not yet released a comparable estimate for 2027.
An early announcement of tentative dates is significant for students. It allows them time to plan their revision, apply for study leave, arrange travel to examination centres and seek guidance from teachers. Teachers and school administrators, in turn, need the schedule to prepare internal assessments and practical examinations, which are held alongside the theory papers.
Students preparing for the 2027 board examinations can take a few practical steps now. First, confirm with the school that personal details and subject choices submitted in the LOC are correct. Second, follow only the official CBSE website for updates rather than relying on forwarded messages. Third, continue revision according to the current syllabus and the board's sample papers, which are also published on the official site.
CBSE has, in recent years, faced criticism from students and parents when tentative schedules were released late, leaving little time for preparation or for making travel arrangements. The board has also had to revise dates in some cycles because of elections and other administrative requirements. For this reason, students are generally advised to treat a tentative schedule as provisional until it is confirmed.
This report will be updated as and when the board makes an official announcement regarding the 2027 examination schedule. Until then, the confirmed development is the opening of the LOC window, which is now the immediate priority for schools.
