CBSE and NCERT Train 110 Teachers on New Class 9 Maths-Science Textbooks

The Central Board of Secondary Education (CBSE), in coordination with the National Council of Educational Research and Training (NCERT), conducted a two-day orientation workshop on the revised Class 9 Mathematics and Science textbooks at the CBSE Integrated Office Complex in Dwarka, New Delhi. The workshop aimed to equip teachers with the skills needed to effectively implement the updated curriculum in classrooms.

A total of 110 teachers—58 specialising in Mathematics and 52 in Science—from CBSE-affiliated schools participated in the programme. Representatives from the Kendriya Vidyalaya Sangathan (KVS) and Navodaya Vidyalaya Samiti (NVS) also attended.

NCERT experts, including Prof. Anup Rajput, Prof. K. Vijayan, Dr. Rishikesh Kumar, Prof. R. R. Koireng, Prof. R. K. Parashar, Dr. Ashish Kumar Srivastava, and Dr. Arun Pratap Sikarwar, led the sessions. They explained the philosophy behind the newly introduced textbooks and discussed practical teaching approaches.

The workshop focused on competency-based learning, experiential teaching methods, real-life applications of concepts, problem-solving techniques, and holistic assessment practices. These methods align with the objectives of the National Education Policy (NEP) 2020 and the National Curriculum Framework for School Education (NCF-SE) 2023, which emphasise conceptual understanding and application-based learning over rote memorisation.

According to CBSE, the participating teachers will serve as Master Trainers, capable of guiding other educators in their respective schools and regions. The initiative is intended to ensure the smooth adoption of the new curriculum across CBSE-affiliated schools. CBSE has stated that such capacity-building programmes are crucial for supporting teachers as schools gradually transition to the revised curriculum in line with NEP 2020 reforms.
