CBI Arrests Ex-Reliance Capital CFO Amit Bapna in Bank Fraud Case
The Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) has arrested Amit Bapna, former chief financial officer (CFO) of Reliance Capital Limited, in connection with its probe into alleged bank frauds involving the Reliance ADA Group.
Bapna served as CFO of Reliance Capital from August 2014 to December 2019 and was a key decision-maker in financial matters. He is the sixth person arrested by the CBI in this case, which stems from complaints lodged by multiple public sector banks and the Life Insurance Corporation of India.
The CBI has registered seven first information reports (FIRs) against Reliance Communications Limited (RCom), Reliance Home Finance Limited (RHFL), Reliance Commercial Finance Limited (RCFL), and Reliance Telecom Limited (RTL) based on these complaints.
Bapna has been in judicial custody at Tihar Central Jail since April this year, following his arrest by the Enforcement Directorate (ED) in a related money laundering case linked to RHFL and RCFL.
The investigation is ongoing, and the CBI is expected to file charge sheets in due course.
