Brij Bhushan sexual harassment case trial ends, Delhi court to deliver verdict on August 3

The trial in the sexual harassment case against Brij Bhushan Sharan Singh, former Bharatiya Janata Party MP and ex-chief of the Wrestling Federation of India (WFI), has been completed. Additional Chief Judicial Magistrate Ashwani Panwar of the Rouse Avenue court in Delhi has reserved the judgment, which is expected to be pronounced on August 3.

The case stems from allegations made by six women wrestlers who accused Singh of sexual harassment, assault, and stalking. In June 2023, the Delhi Police filed a chargesheet against him under relevant sections of the Indian Penal Code.

The trial began in July 2024. According to court records, 43 witnesses were initially listed, though several were dropped as the proceedings progressed. All remaining witnesses have been examined, and final arguments have concluded. The court has directed all counsels to file written submissions within two weeks before the judgment date.

The case has drawn significant attention due to the involvement of a prominent sports administrator and former parliamentarian. The judgment will be closely watched by legal experts and the sports community.
