BPSC records highest selections since Independence: 2,027 candidates selected

The Bihar Public Service Commission (BPSC) on Saturday announced the results of its 70th Combined Competitive Examination, selecting a record 2,027 candidates. This is the highest number of selections in any BPSC examination since India's independence in 1947.

Shraddha Pandey, a candidate from Uttar Pradesh, topped the merit list. She was among four women in the top 10 positions. The other women in the top 10 are Rashmi Kiran (rank 6), Upashana Sharma (rank 9), and Priya (rank 10). Shashank Pandey and Aksh Vijoy secured the second and third ranks respectively. Overall, women accounted for 45 of the top 100 ranks.

BPSC secretary Satya Prakash Sharma provided a comparison with previous examinations: in the 69th BPSC, 475 candidates were selected out of 1,250 interviewed; in the 68th BPSC, 324 were selected out of 817 interviewed. In the 70th BPSC, 2,027 candidates were selected out of 5,449 interviewed.

The significant increase in selections reflects the state government's efforts to fill vacancies in various administrative positions. The examination process included a preliminary test, main examination, and interview. Successful candidates will be appointed to Group A and Group B services in Bihar.
