Blackbaud expands in Hyderabad with second office, eyes 1,000 employees

Hyderabad: Blackbaud, the US-based software solutions provider specialising in the non-profit sector, is set to expand its footprint in Hyderabad with a second office in the Financial District. The company, which formally inaugurated its India centre in November 2025, currently operates from HITEC City with around 700 employees.

Rajiv Gajria, Vice President and Managing Director of Blackbaud India, said the new facility would become operational soon. "We're now about 700 people at HITEC City and set to launch our new site in the Financial District soon. Over the next 12-18 months, between the two sites, we expect to have a headcount of 1,000 people, if not more, driving a lot of our global work out of India," he said.

While the immediate focus is on strengthening India capabilities, Mr. Gajria acknowledged the potential of the Indian market. "There is a lot of opportunity here. But for now, the focus is on building capabilities in India," he said.

Blackbaud selected Hyderabad as the location for its India centre, positioning it as a "full stack capability centre" rather than a conventional offshore services setup. Teams at the facility handle product development and management, product roadmap planning, customer operations, professional services, and customer support. The centre also provides supporting functions including enterprise IT, marketing, and finance.

"India is not an outpost for execution or just an offshore services setup. We are a full stack capability centre," Mr. Gajria emphasised. The company expects its Hyderabad headcount to reach about 800 by the end of the year.

Headquartered in South Carolina and listed on NASDAQ, Blackbaud has helped mobilise $100 billion for the non-profit sector over its 45-year existence. The majority of its customers are in North America, and it has an established business in Western Europe with a growing presence in Australia.

The firm sees India as a potential market, given that many of its US customers have operations in the country. Blackbaud's software enables non-profit organisations to digitise and scale their operations, helping them establish and sustain relationships with donors.

On the technology front, Blackbaud has become an AI-first company. "We are seeing growing demand for AI products and solutions from the social impact sector," said Mr. Gajria. The company plans to expand AI capabilities across its product stack.

In terms of hiring, lateral recruitment remains the primary focus. However, the company recently recruited its first batch of fresh graduates, indicating a move towards building a talent pipeline from campuses.

Hyderabad has emerged as a preferred destination for global capability centres in recent years. Blackbaud's decision to expand here aligns with this trend and further cements the city's position as a technology hub. With the new office, the company aims to drive a significant portion of its global operations from India while contributing to the local ecosystem.
