BJP Demands Rahul Gandhi Explain Rafale Tender Remarks Amid Pakistan Propaganda Allegations
The Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) on Tuesday demanded that Congress leader Rahul Gandhi explain his recent remarks about the Indian Air Force's support tender for 36 Rafale fighter jets. The party alleged that his statements align with propaganda spread by Pakistan.
Addressing a press conference, a BJP spokesperson said, 'Rahul Gandhi owes the nation an explanation. His baseless claims about the Rafale deal are not only factually incorrect but also serve the interests of our adversaries.' The issue pertains to the IAF's tender for support services for the Rafale fleet, which was signed in 2016 under the UPA government's framework.
The BJP has accused the Congress of consistently spreading misinformation about the cost and offset clauses of the deal. Congress, however, has dismissed the allegations, stating that the party is only raising legitimate questions about transparency and pricing. The political slugfest comes amid heightened tensions with Pakistan, and the BJP has warned against any statements that could undermine national security.
