Bengaluru Daycare Abuse: Toddlers Allegedly Locked in Washing Machines, Five Caregivers Booked
Bengaluru police have registered a case against five caregivers at Capgemini's on-campus creche in Bengaluru, following allegations that toddlers were locked inside washing machines and forced into pipes. The incident, which has sent shockwaves through the city, came to light after parents noticed unusual injuries on their children.
According to police, the abuse occurred at the creche located within the Capgemini IT campus. The five accused, who are employees of the facility, have been booked under relevant sections of the Juvenile Justice Act and the Indian Penal Code. Investigations are ongoing, and the children are reported to be safe, though traumatized.
Capgemini issued a statement expressing deep concern and promising full cooperation with the authorities. The company has also suspended the accused caregivers pending inquiry. This case has reignited debates about childcare safety in corporate campuses, with many demanding stricter regulations and background checks for creche staff.
In a separate incident in Navi Mumbai, two women received electric shocks after stepping on an exposed wire submerged in waterlogged road water. The incident occurred during heavy monsoon rains, highlighting the recurring danger of unsafe electrical infrastructure in Mumbai's suburbs. Both women survived and are receiving treatment at a local hospital. Local residents have complained about exposed wires for years, but authorities have yet to implement permanent fixes.
These two incidents underscore the need for improved safety measures in both childcare facilities and public infrastructure. Police in Bengaluru have urged parents to remain vigilant, while civic authorities in Navi Mumbai have promised to inspect and repair faulty electrical lines.
