Belgium stun Senegal with extra-time penalty in World Cup comeback

Belgium pulled off a remarkable comeback to defeat Senegal 3-2 in the World Cup Round of 32 match in Seattle on Wednesday, with a penalty in the 125th minute sealing the victory.

Senegal took a two-goal lead in regular time, but Belgium fought back to level the scores and force extra time. Romelu Lukaku scored in the 86th minute to reduce the deficit, and captain Youri Tielemans equalised three minutes later, taking the game to an additional 30 minutes.

In the final minute of extra time, with penalties looming, Senegal's Lamine Camara fouled Tielemans in the box. Tielemans stepped up to take the spot-kick himself and calmly placed the ball into the top right corner, giving Senegal no chance.

The victory sends Belgium into the Round of 16, where they will face a yet-to-be-determined opponent. For Senegal, the defeat ends their World Cup campaign after a valiant effort.

Belgium's comeback was the first time in the tournament that a team had overturned a two-goal deficit to win in extra time.
