An arrested suspect linked to the Pakistan-based terror outfit Jaish-e-Mohammed reportedly surveyed an area near the residence of Suvendu Adhikari, the Leader of Opposition in the West Bengal Legislative Assembly, according to an official familiar with the investigation.

Initial reports had described Adhikari as the Chief Minister, which is incorrect. The Chief Minister of West Bengal is Mamata Banerjee. Adhikari, a former member of the Trinamool Congress, joined the Bharatiya Janata Party in 2020 and has served as the Leader of Opposition since 2021.
