Army, Rajasthan Police crack down on counterfeit combat uniform racket in Sriganganagar

In a coordinated operation, the Army's Intelligence units and the Rajasthan Police have uncovered a counterfeit military combat uniform racket operating in Sriganganagar district. The action, carried out on July 30, led to the seizure of nearly 1,000 metres of unauthorised Army-pattern combat cloth from multiple shops across the district.

The investigation began after a consignment of counterfeit combat cloth was intercepted in Bareilly in June this year. Following the seizure, Army Intelligence units launched a discreet probe to trace the source. Their findings pointed to a local firm in Sriganganagar as a key link in the supply chain, allegedly distributing the fabric to shops in Sriganganagar town, Lalgarh Jattan, Suratgarh, and nearby markets.

Joint teams subsequently searched several shops and recovered the unauthorised new-pattern combat cloth. Officials emphasised that the possession, sale, or use of military-pattern combat cloth without authorisation is a punishable offence. They also highlighted the significant security risk it poses, as such material could be used to impersonate armed forces personnel.
