Army Officer Accuses Lawyer of Assault and Confinement at Panchkula Court; Lawyer Denies Allegations
The Panchkula police have registered a First Information Report (FIR) against an advocate following a complaint by an Army officer. Lieutenant Colonel (Lt Col) Ashish Chandok, posted at Chandimandir Military Station, alleges that he was assaulted, wrongfully confined, and threatened inside the district court premises during a hearing in his marital dispute case on July 9.
The FIR, filed at the Sector 7 police station on Friday night, names Advocate Maninder Singh Bitta. It includes charges under Sections 115, 117(2), 127(2), 190, 191(2), and 351(2) of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita (BNS). According to the complaint, the alleged incident occurred during the hearing of Lt Col Chandok's case at the family court.
Advocate Bitta has denied all allegations and claimed that he was the one assaulted by the Army personnel. The police are investigating the matter, and no arrests have been made as of now.
Lt Col Chandok's complaint states that the advocate not only assaulted him but also confined him within the court premises while using threatening language. The exact sequence of events and any witnesses present remain under scrutiny.
