Armed Gang Robs Elderly Couple in Karimnagar, Steals Gold and Cash
In the early hours of Tuesday, July 22, 2026, a group of approximately six armed assailants broke into a house in Bhagathnagar, Karimnagar district. The robbers attacked an elderly couple, tied them up, and fled with gold and silver ornaments and cash worth lakhs of rupees.
The victims, Ajmath Ali and his wife, were assaulted with the butt of a fake gun, gagged with tape, and had their hands and legs bound. The assailants also threatened other family members with knives before escaping on two motorcycles. The couple sustained minor injuries.
According to police, the robbers entered the house around 12:30 a.m. when Mr. Ali stepped out to switch off a light in the corridor. They locked the door from outside after the theft. The stolen items include 66 tola of gold, 10 tola of silver ornaments, and ₹21 lakh in cash.
Karimnagar Police Commissioner Gaush Alam visited the scene on Wednesday morning. Multiple police teams are analyzing CCTV footage and working to trace the culprits.
This incident comes less than 80 days after an armed robbery at a PMJ Jewellers showroom in Karimnagar, allegedly involving a Bihar-based gang. The mastermind and other suspects in that case have already been arrested.
