Andhra Pradesh to Set Up Permanent Yoga Centres in Villages and Wards: CM Naidu

Chief Minister N. Chandrababu Naidu announced on Sunday (June 21, 2026) that permanent yoga centres will be established in Swarna Grama and Ward Secretariats across Andhra Pradesh. Speaking at the International Yoga Day celebrations in Vijayawada, he said the move aims to promote physical and mental well-being through yoga.

Mr. Naidu led the state-level event alongside yoga guru Baba Ramdev at the Indira Gandhi Municipal Corporation stadium. He stated that district and mandal-level officials will be appointed to supervise yoga programmes, and an expert committee will be formed to create standard yoga protocols.

The Chief Minister also announced that the next International Yoga Day celebrations in 2027 will be held in Tirupati. He credited Prime Minister Narendra Modi for bringing global recognition to yoga and positioning India as a rising power internationally.

Mr. Naidu described India as a 'Vishwa Guru' due to its potential to guide the world in various fields, and praised Baba Ramdev for making yoga accessible to the masses. He emphasised that the future lies in combining technology with spirituality, and called on the public to help transform Andhra Pradesh into 'Spiritual Andhra Pradesh'.

Referring to the record set by 'Yoga Andhra-2025' in Visakhapatnam with Mr. Modi's presence, Mr. Naidu said the state government is committed to ensuring yoga reaches every household to improve public health. He also highlighted the promotion of natural farming to provide chemical-free food, and the integration of yoga into the Sanjeevani project.
