Andhra Pradesh to Open 1,000 Mee Marts to Combat Food Inflation

The Andhra Pradesh Civil Supplies Department and the National Cooperative Consumers’ Federation of India (NCCF) have signed a memorandum of understanding (MoU) to establish 1,000 Mee Marts across the state. The outlets aim to provide essential commodities at competitive prices, shielding consumers from rising food inflation.

The MoU was signed by Civil Supplies Commissioner K. Kanna Babu and NCCF Managing Director Anice Joseph in the presence of Civil Supplies Minister Nadendla Manohar. In a social media post, Mr. Manohar stated that around 70 quality-assured consumer products would be made available through these outlets, starting with the districts of Palnadu, Guntur, NTR, and Krishna.

The product range includes pulses, rice, edible oil, spices, and other essential commodities. The initiative is designed to ensure access to quality goods at affordable prices, providing relief to consumers amid rising food costs. The first phase will focus on the four identified districts, with a gradual expansion to other parts of the state.

Mee Marts are state-run retail outlets that aim to stabilise prices by offering competitive rates for daily necessities. The partnership with NCCF, a national cooperative body, is expected to strengthen the supply chain and ensure consistent availability of products.
