Andhra Pradesh team studies Kerala's poverty model at KILA
A high-level delegation from the Andhra Pradesh government visited the Kerala Institute of Local Administration (KILA) to study the state's model of eliminating extreme poverty. The visit is part of Andhra Pradesh's efforts to design a similar programme based on Kerala's experience.
KILA, which conceptualised the framework and conducted capacity-building programmes for Kerala's extreme poverty eradication mission, was chosen as the nodal institution for discussions. The delegation held talks with KILA Director General N. Devidasan. Faculty members K. Rajesh and Monish Jose presented the conceptual framework, implementation strategy and outcomes of the initiative.
The Andhra Pradesh delegation included Anand Shankar, Joint Secretary, Planning Department; P. Sriramulu Naidu, Additional Chief Executive Officer, Society for Elimination of Rural Poverty (SERP); and consultants Sai Sathvik, Amit Gupta and Sandeep. The team will visit local self-government institutions in Idukki, Ernakulam and Thrissur districts to understand grassroots implementation. They also held discussions with Thrissur Corporation officials and representatives of local bodies from different districts.
