Andhra Pradesh Records 4 Covid-19 Deaths, 12 Cases in Under a Month

Andhra Pradesh has reported 12 new Covid-19 infections and four deaths between June 26 and July 16, according to state Health Commissioner G Veerapandian. The deceased individuals had pre-existing health conditions such as hypertension, diabetes, and renal issues.

In an official press release, Veerapandian noted that the cases were sporadic and not clustered in a single location. The highest number of infections—eight—came from Kadapa district, followed by Guntur (two), and one each from Visakhapatnam and Kakinada. Three of the deaths occurred in Kadapa district, and one in Kakinada.

The first case in the state this year was recorded in Kadapa district on June 26. Between July 1 and 16, 11 more infections were detected. Health officials said two people contracted the virus after close contact with infected individuals.

From June 26 to July 15, 67 Covid-19 tests were conducted in Andhra Pradesh, with 11 returning positive. The 12th case was diagnosed at Christian Medical College in Vellore, Tamil Nadu. Among the infected, three are under home isolation, two are hospitalized, and three have recovered and been discharged.

Nationally, from July 1 onward, 339 Covid-19 cases were reported across India, led by Kerala (115), Karnataka (64), Maharashtra (43), Tamil Nadu (39), Andaman and Nicobar Islands and Delhi (18 each), and Rajasthan (12), among others.

The health department continues to monitor the situation and advises the public to follow preventive measures, especially those with underlying conditions.
