Andhra Pradesh Government, Kia Motors Sign MoU for ₹12 Crore ITI Project in Penukonda
Minister for Backward Classes Welfare and Textiles S. Savitha announced on Thursday that industrial establishments are increasingly contributing to rural development through Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR) funds, which are being utilised for infrastructure and skill development projects.
Speaking at a CSR programme at the Revenue Divisional Office in Penukonda, Sri Sathya Sai district, the Minister noted that industrial investments have generated significant employment and social development in the Rayalaseema region. She stated that nearly ₹36 crore in CSR funds from companies such as Kia Motors and BEL is being directed towards developmental works in the Penukonda Assembly constituency.
During the event, a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) was signed between the State government and Kia Motors for the construction of an Industrial Training Institute (ITI) building at a cost of ₹12 crore under the company's CSR initiative. Ms. Savitha said the two-acre campus is expected to be ready for the next academic year and will provide industry-oriented technical skills to local youth.
District Collector A. Shyam Prasad described the new ITI as a testament to the partnership between government and industry, reflecting inclusive development. He assured that the district administration would ensure timely completion of the ITI building and other CSR-funded projects, including roads, healthcare facilities, anganwadi centres, and drinking water schemes.
