Andhra Pradesh Deputy Chief Minister Pawan Kalyan visits ailing fan in Hanumakonda
Andhra Pradesh Deputy Chief Minister Pawan Kalyan on Wednesday made a personal visit to Hanumakonda in Telangana’s Warangal district to meet a teenage fan who is battling a rare genetic neuromuscular condition. The fan, 17-year-old Niranjan, has been bedridden and requires ongoing medical attention.
Mr. Kalyan, a prominent film actor and the founder of the Jana Sena Party, said in a post on X (formerly Twitter) that he had recently come across a video of Niranjan speaking about his illness and expressing a heartfelt desire to meet him. He subsequently arranged the visit.
At the family’s home in Hanuman Nagar, the Deputy Chief Minister spent around 45 minutes with Niranjan and his parents. He discussed the boy’s condition and treatment, offered comfort, and gave him prasadam from the Tirumala Sri Venkateswara temple. He also announced a financial contribution of ₹1 lakh to help cover medical expenses.
During the conversation, the family mentioned their financial difficulties. Mr. Kalyan asked local Jana Sena leaders to look into the possibility of setting up a canteen that could provide a steady source of income for the household. When Niranjan mentioned a wish to have a pet dog, Mr. Kalyan reportedly promised to arrange one.
In his social media post after the visit, Mr. Kalyan shared details of the meeting, noting that he went believing he was fulfilling the boy’s wish, but “it was Niranjan who left me inspired.” He described the teenager’s “courage, resilience, and unwavering spirit” as remarkable. He also watched old videos of Niranjan dancing and mimicking his film roles from a period when the boy was healthier.
Mr. Kalyan assured the family that special prayers would be held at the Bhadrakali temple in Warangal for Niranjan’s recovery. Later that day, he visited the temple himself. He expressed gratitude to the Telangana leadership for the arrangements and thanked the Jana Sena cadre and local supporters for their warm welcome. Addressing them, he wrote, “Your love and blessings will always be a constant source of strength.”
Neuromuscular disorders of this kind are often progressive and place significant financial and emotional strain on families. Mr. Kalyan’s visit highlighted such challenges while also underscoring his long-standing practice of maintaining personal connections with supporters beyond his political duties. The gesture drew wide appreciation on social media, with many acknowledging the human connection behind the public figure.
