Andhra Minister Warns YSRCP Over Threats Ahead of 2029 Elections
Andhra Pradesh Revenue Minister Anagani Satya Prasad on Wednesday accused the YSR Congress Party (YSRCP) of using threats and warnings to provoke the ruling NDA alliance. Speaking to reporters in Tirupati after a series of official programmes, Mr. Prasad criticised the opposition party for attempting to distract the government from its development agenda.
Responding to what he described as intimidating statements by some YSRCP leaders hinting at revenge after a possible return to power in the 2029 elections, the Minister said the YSRCP would not regain power due to its anti-people and anti-development record. “Not just 2029, the axe party (referring to YSRCP's symbol) will not come to power even by 2049,” he said, adding that the Telugu Desam Party (TDP) workers and leaders are disciplined and bound by party president and Chief Minister N. Chandrababu Naidu's directives.
Mr. Prasad warned that while the government still has three years in office, any provocative actions will be met with an appropriate response if restraint is not observed. He also expressed displeasure over what he termed a malicious campaign of rumours and false narratives spread by YSRCP's social media wings, aimed at distracting the government. The Minister hinted at possible legal action against such social media channels.
