Ammonia Gas Leak in Tamil Nadu Claims Tenth Victim

The death toll from the ammonia gas leak at a seafood processing and export facility in Tiruvallur district has risen to ten, following the death of a woman worker from Odisha on Wednesday, June 24, 2026. The victim has been identified as Subasi Juanga, according to a media bulletin issued by the Tamil Nadu Health Department.

The incident, which occurred on June 21, has affected a total of 83 individuals. Currently, 68 people are receiving treatment and remain under medical observation. Among those being treated, 65 are women and three are men. Their condition varies: 17 patients are on ventilator support, 21 are receiving nasal oxygen, and 30 are reported stable. Five individuals have been discharged after receiving treatment.

The authorities continue to monitor the situation and provide necessary medical care to the affected individuals. Investigations into the cause of the leak are ongoing.
