Amit Shah launches FCRA 2.0 portal and e-OCI card to monitor foreign donations in real time
Union Home Minister Amit Shah launched the FCRA 2.0 portal and the electronic Overseas Citizen of India (e-OCI) card on Tuesday in New Delhi. The event was attended by Intelligence Bureau Director Mahesh Dixit.
The FCRA 2.0 portal is designed to strengthen the government's ability to monitor foreign contributions in real time under the Foreign Contribution (Regulation) Act. According to the Home Minister, the platform will reduce paperwork, improve transparency, and address difficulties faced by organisations receiving foreign donations.
Shah also introduced the e-OCI card, which he said will bring greater convenience to over 50 lakh OCI cardholders by digitising the application and renewal process.
Speaking at the launch, Shah stated that both initiatives aim to make governance more efficient and citizen-friendly, while also ensuring better oversight of foreign contributions and OCI-related processes. He emphasised that the new systems will resolve long-standing issues for stakeholders, particularly those dealing with FCRA compliance.
