AIADMK Chief Palaniswami Names New Party Functionaries in Key Roles
Chennai: AIADMK general secretary Edappadi K. Palaniswami on Friday announced the appointment of several party members to various organisational posts, in a move to strengthen the party's leadership structure ahead of future elections.
According to a party statement, Arcot legislator S.M. Sukumar, former Sattur MLA S.G. Subramanian, and former Erode Deputy Mayor K.C. Palanisamy have been appointed as deputy propaganda secretaries. Former Minister V.M. Rajalakshmi has been named joint secretary of the women's wing.
The appointments come as the AIADMK, a major political force in Tamil Nadu, seeks to consolidate its cadre and expand its outreach. Palaniswami is also scheduled to chair a meeting of the women's wing at the party headquarters on July 1, indicating a focus on strengthening grassroots engagement.
The AIADMK, which has been in opposition since the 2021 state assembly elections, has been reorganising its party machinery under Palaniswami's leadership. The new appointees bring a mix of legislative experience and local governance background, which may help the party in connecting with voters across different regions.
