Agartala Blast Claims One Life, State Government Orders Inquiry

One person died and several others were injured in a mysterious blast that damaged an apartment building at Shankar Chowmuhani area in Agartala, Tripura, on Thursday. The deceased has been identified as Subhrajit Choudhury, a resident of the building, who succumbed to burns on Friday.

Chief Minister Dr. Manik Saha visited the site on Friday, interacting with affected residents and assuring them of a thorough investigation. Eight apartments, including Choudhury's, were damaged in the explosion. Choudhury suffered 90% burns and died during treatment.

The state government has constituted a fact-finding committee led by the Secretary of the Urban Development Department. Other members include the Director of Fire Services, the Superintendent of Police of West Tripura, the Chief Engineer of PWD-Buildings, and the Agartala Municipal Commissioner. The committee has been directed to submit its report within seven days.

The Chief Minister expressed condolences to the bereaved family and assured that all necessary steps would be taken to prevent such incidents in the future.
