After Pradhan's Resignation, Protest Group Lists Three More Demands

Union Education Minister Dharmendra Pradhan resigned on Saturday, following weeks of protests demanding his removal over alleged leaks in competitive exams like NEET and other irregularities in the education system. The Cockroach Janata Party (CJP), which led the protests, has now listed three more pending demands.

In a press briefing, CJP president Abhijeet Dipke stated the first demand: compensation of Rs 1 crore for families of students who died by suicide, allegedly due to exam-related stress. The second demand calls for action against police personnel involved in a crackdown on protesters on July 20. The third demand is the withdrawal of all cases filed against students since that date.

Later, the CJP posted an updated list on social media, adding a fourth demand: a public apology from the Rapid Action Force (RAF) and Delhi Police. The protests, which began over a month ago as a call for education reforms, have expanded to include concerns over unemployment and government accountability.

On July 20, police dispersed a large crowd of protesters marching toward Parliament, resulting in injuries to several students and escalating tensions. The government has not yet responded to the new demands.

Dipke said the resignation shows that the youth can force change when united. The situation remains under watch, with students and activists continuing to await action on the remaining demands.
