After 6-Month Manhunt, Punjab Police Bring Fugitive Gangster Back from Indonesia

Punjab's Anti-Gangster Task Force, in coordination with central agencies, has secured the deportation of a fugitive gangster from Jakarta after a six-month-long manhunt, police said on Saturday.

Director General of Police DGP Gaurav Yadav stated that the accused, Jobanjit Singh, is wanted in multiple heinous criminal cases, including murder, attempt to murder, and offences under the Narcotic Drugs and Psychotropic Substances Act and Arms Act. He had been evading arrest by operating across multiple countries.

In a statement on social media, Mr. Yadav said, 'In a major breakthrough against transnational organised crime, Anti-Gangster Task Force Punjab, in coordination with OFTEC Punjab and central agencies, successfully secured the deportation of fugitive gangster Jobanjit Singh @ Joban Billa from Jakarta, Indonesia, and brought him back to Punjab.' He added that the operation marked the culmination of Operation Nomad Hunt, a six-month intelligence-led international manhunt involving sustained surveillance and strategic intelligence gathering.

The DGP reaffirmed the Punjab Police's commitment to dismantling organised crime networks and ensuring that fugitives hiding anywhere in the world are brought to justice.
