Adani Group Unveils ₹20,000 Crore Plan for 'Airport Cities' at Six Airports

The Adani Group has announced a major infrastructure development plan, with its subsidiary Adani Airport City Limited (AACL) investing over ₹20,000 crore to create integrated 'airport cities' across six airports in India.

The first phase will develop approximately 22 million square feet of hospitality, retail, entertainment, convention, and commercial space at airports in Mumbai, Navi Mumbai, Ahmedabad, Lucknow, Jaipur, and Guwahati. The projects will be built on a land bank of more than 655 acres across five states, with Mumbai and Navi Mumbai accounting for nearly 440 acres and expected to attract around 70% of the total investment.

According to the company, the developments are designed as walkable urban districts that will seamlessly connect airport terminals with metro and city transport networks. They will include hotels, office spaces, retail outlets, dining destinations, entertainment venues, and convention facilities.

Jeet Adani, Director of Adani Airport Holdings Limited, stated that the initiative draws inspiration from global airport-city models such as Singapore's Changi, Dubai International, Amsterdam Schiphol, and Seoul Incheon. The project aims to transform airports into economic hubs, boosting local employment and tourism.

This investment is part of the Adani Group's broader strategy to expand its infrastructure footprint. The company already operates seven airports in India, including the country's busiest, Mumbai's Chhatrapati Shivaji Maharaj International Airport.
