Across terrains, Indian Armed Forces observe International Day of Yoga; Rajnath Singh participates in Shillong
On the occasion of the International Day of Yoga, personnel of the Indian Armed Forces participated in yoga sessions across diverse locations, including mountainous regions, plains, and onboard naval vessels. Defence Minister Rajnath Singh joined over 1,000 soldiers in a yoga demonstration held in Shillong, Meghalaya.
Speaking at the event, Singh described yoga as a 'holistic science' that benefits both physical and mental well-being. He emphasised its role in fostering discipline and unity among the forces. The sessions were organised as part of the government's efforts to promote yoga globally, following the initiative led by Prime Minister Narendra Modi.
This annual observance, recognised by the United Nations, highlights the ancient Indian practice's contributions to health and harmony. The armed forces' widespread participation underscores the importance of wellness in military preparedness.
