Aaditya Thackeray condemns police action on NEET paper leak protesters
New Delhi: Shiv Sena (UBT) leader Aaditya Thackeray on Monday criticised the police action against protesters gathered near Parliament over the alleged NEET paper leak. Calling the crackdown 'the most frightening face of BJP rule,' he accused both the central and Maharashtra governments of suppressing democratic protests.
Visuals from the protest, organised by the Cockroach Janta Party (CJP), showed police using batons and tear gas to disperse demonstrators who were marching towards Parliament. Several protesters, including women and children, were seen being pushed or struck during the action.
Speaking to reporters, Thackeray said: 'Yesterday, we saw the most frightening face of BJP rule. What happened on the streets of Delhi was worse than the atrocities during British rule.' He added that women and children were assaulted by the police. The central government, he said, had failed to engage with the agitating students.
The protest was part of a larger demand for a thorough investigation into the NEET paper leak, which has led to widespread student anger. The CJP has been leading demonstrations across the country.
Police officials have not yet issued a formal statement on the incident. The BJP was not immediately available for comment.
