₹740 Crore Sanctioned for Rural Health Infrastructure and Free Diagnostics
The Government has released ₹740 crore to the Health Department with the objective of providing free and quality healthcare services to rural populations, according to Deputy Chief Minister Mallu Bhatti Vikramarka.
This allocation will be used to construct 1,569 new health sub-centres across rural areas in the state, significantly strengthening medical infrastructure at the grassroots level. The centres are intended to bring primary healthcare closer to remote communities, reducing the need for long-distance travel.
In addition to infrastructure, the funds will support the provision of free diagnostic services locally. Residents will no longer have to travel to towns for basic medical tests, as these services will be made available at the sub-centres. This initiative aims to enable early detection of diseases at the primary healthcare level and ensure timely treatment.
The government stated that by improving access to healthcare and diagnostics, it seeks to reduce the financial burden of medical expenses on poor and middle-class families. The move is part of a broader effort to enhance public health outcomes and achieve universal health coverage in the state.
