17-Year-Old From Kashmir Builds AI EdTech Startup Valued at Rs 5 Crore in Six Months
A 17-year-old student from a remote border village in Jammu and Kashmir has founded an artificial intelligence-based education technology company within six months. Imran Chaudhary, a resident of Doongi village in Rajouri district, established Lagnever Technologies Private Limited, an EdTech startup that uses AI to enhance learning for students.
According to the company, its AI-powered study tools have been downloaded over 10,000 times, and the startup has reached a valuation of Rs 5 crore since its launch. The app offers features such as AI-assisted study support, note-making, quizzes, and career guidance. The company states that the app is designed to complement classroom learning, not replace teachers.
Imran said that growing up in a remote village with limited resources did not deter him from learning about technology. He remained focused on creating a platform to make quality education more accessible. He attributed the startup’s early success to his 12-member team, including Chief Operating Officer Anees Aziz, Director Sarfraz Hussain, social media managers Arnab Balgotra and Shoaib Qureshi, and Chief Marketing Officer Mohib Altaf. Imran noted that Mohib Altaf played a key role in promoting the app and reaching more students. The team initially faced challenges in creating awareness about the platform.
As one of the first AI-based education apps developed in Jammu and Kashmir, the team hopes for increased support from the Union Territory administration and the Central government to foster local technology startups.
Imran has also received international recognition. He was selected for a global founders’ programme linked with BlackRock, which includes only 60 young entrepreneurs worldwide. The six-month programme, held in Bengaluru, will provide training sessions, networking events, and opportunities to collaborate with founders from different countries on real-world challenges.
Looking ahead, Imran aims to build an AI-powered education platform that enables students to access quality learning resources anytime and anywhere. His journey from a small border village in Rajouri to building a rapidly growing startup highlights how determination and innovation can overcome obstacles.
