11 Arrested, 3 Minors Held in Jalgaon Sexual Assault Case Over Circulated Video
Nearly a month after a 40-year-old woman was sexually assaulted by two men while accomplices filmed the act, the Jalgaon police have arrested 11 persons and apprehended three minors. The arrests came after the video began circulating on social media around June 25.
According to an official from Fattepur police station, all 11 accused are under 30 years of age and worked as labourers. They were produced before a local court on Tuesday and sent to police custody until July 4.
The incident occurred on June 2 in a forest area in Jamner taluka. The accused, who were collecting firewood, saw the woman with a 38-year-old male friend. They began threatening the pair, and two of the men raped the woman while others recorded the act. The accused also threatened the male companion.
The woman did not file a complaint initially due to threats from the accused. However, after the video circulated on social media, the Fattepur police registered a complaint on Monday, naming 15 persons. Of these, 14 have been apprehended, including the two who committed the rape and the three minors.
The police are continuing their investigation. The three minors are being processed under juvenile justice laws.
